Citizenship Education

Microsoft (free) curriculum; suggested for grades 8-10 but can be adapted to middle school; explores issues surrounding fair use and digital citizenship.

The Digital Citizenship and Creative Content program is a free, turnkey instructional program. The goal is to create an awareness of the rights connected with creative content. Because only through education can students gain an understanding of the relevance of and a personal respect for creative rights and grow to become good digital citizens.

This website provides ideas from a teacher, and they deal with projects to do in a Kindergarten classroom. Some of the items you can purchase, but I found the website interesting for ideas to use in a class.

Leonardo of Pisa was born around 1170 AD in (of course) Pisa, Italy. While not quite as famous as some other Italian or Ninja Turtle Leonardos, we do have a lot to thank him for. His most notable contribution to your life is probably found on the top row of your keyboard. While traveling through North Africa, Leo discovered that the local number system of 0-9 was far superior than the obscure combination of X’s, V’s and I’s the Romans had invented a millennium earlier to confuse later generations of elementary school students. Leonardo brought this number system to Europe and eventually we invented Sudoku with it.

These are not skeleton lesson plans, the Kodak lesson plans have very detailed directions for classroom implementation.
